Civitatis
At the appointed time, we will meet in front of the Town Hall of Altea to begin our exploration of this charming Mediterranean town.
We will walk through the streets of Altea, admiring the iconic white buildings that define its picturesque urban landscape. We will follow the traces of history as we explore the ancient staggered alleys of the town, where you can still see vestiges of the walls that once guarded Altea from possible maritime attacks.
We will venture into the old town to visit the church of Nuestra Señora del Consuelo, explore the old access gates to the walls and enjoy the panoramic views from the viewpoints, from where we can contemplate the stunning bay of Altea. Did you know that in its day, this place was a refuge for pirates?
But Altea not only attracted corsairs; over the years, numerous artists have chosen this picturesque coastal town to enjoy well-deserved rest seasons. Among them are illustrious names such as Rafael Alberti, Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, and more contemporary figures such as Marisol or Sergio Dalma. During the tour, we will share with you many interesting anecdotes about these characters.
After this enriching walk, our free tour of Altea will end near the Fornet, in the vicinity of the Palau de Altea.
