In 1934, the U.S. Department of Justice converted Alcatraz Island into a federal prison, establishing the first maximum security prison in the country.

Hidden within these walls are numerous mysteries involving some of the most dangerous criminals of the era, such as the infamous Al Capone. Alcatraznicknamed 'The Rock', became the destination for criminals considered too dangerous for other prisons on the continent.

This penitentiary was designed to prevent any escape attempt. Despite multiple attempts throughout its history, it was claimed that no one had ever successfully escaped. However, in an early morning in June 1962, three prisoners apparently outwitted the guards and it is believed that their escape may have been successful, as they were never heard from again.

How did they manage to elude surveillance? What was their escape route? How did they manage to evade Alcatraz? These enigmas remain some of the greatest mysteries and secrets to be uncovered, even 50 years after their closure.
